Showgirls – We Hope You Like Dolphins

Paul Verhoeven had already released RoboCop and Basic Instinct when he dropped Showgirls, but the film definitely didn’t have the reception he wished for. Its earnings were pretty low, and critics actually slammed it. Despite that, Showgirls is kind of a cult-classic nowadays, and there’s a pretty good reason for that.

Its two stars, Elizabeth Berkley and Kyle MacLachlan, who play two exotic dancers, end up getting pretty close during a night they spent at a pool. That’s where Berkley started writhing around on top of MacLachlan, with fans describing it as totally cringy. Actually, people call the scene the “dolphin intercourse scene” because of the sounds that came from Berkley.
