Frozen in place, they barely breathed until Tommy murmured, “Did you hear that? We gotta see!” Emma shot him a wary glance, but Chris was already retracing steps to a hidden door they had spotted earlier.

As they watched, Chris suddenly bolted through it, back into the shadowy corridor they had left. “Chris!” Emma and Tommy dashed after him, their calls echoing off stone walls. He seemed to be always just ahead, his footsteps pounding in rhythm with their hearts. And then, a chilling scream pierced the silence.
