The weighty stone proved useless against the defiant lock. “Got any more tricks up your sleeve?” Emma said, casting a doubtful look at the door. Chris and Tommy shared a glance, seemingly a shared promise not to quit.
“There’s got to be another entrance,” Chris voiced with hope. Time ticked by, and as every idea failed, desperation crept in. Left with no other choice, they united for one last attempt: boot versus door. They had no idea if that would work, but it was worth the shot. The trio held their breath.
