High Functioning but Struggling

By 2001, Matthew had become trapped in the grips of alcoholism, yet he maintained a veneer of professionalism in Hollywood. He adhered to a strict rule against drinking on set, perhaps in the hope that his habits would remain unnoticed. However, the physical and emotional toll of his addiction began to show. Matthew’s noticeable weight loss, along with symptoms of fatigue and shakiness, were clear signs of his inner turmoil.
