George W. Bush & Laura Bush – Together Since 1977

George W. Bush and Laura Welch exchanged vows at a Midland-based First United Methodist Church in 1977. They met at a backyard barbecue hosted by Jan and Joe O’Neill, and in just about three months after initially meeting, Bush popped the big question. Laura soon became an asset for Bush’s campaigns.

She also helped him quietly beat his alcohol addiction problem while serving as Vice President under Ronald Reagan’s regime. Laura was there every step of the way when Bush won the controversial 2000 presidential elections against Al Gore. The couple was also at Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony in January 2021.
