Peace & Love Is The Only Ticket You Need
Less than 100K tickets were sold by Woodstock Ventures, the festival organizers. So, how come almost half a million people attended the event? Well, those were different times. Back in 1969, the youngsters didn’t care if they had a ticket or not—they simply showed up!
Having a big farm with small fences as a venue, Woodstock was filled with freeloaders two days before it even started. Without the means to control the 300K unexpected visitors, Woodstock Ventures decided to make the festival free for everyone; a decision that was influenced by the consideration that the festival was more about peace and love than actual money.
