Naturally, some of the Woodstock attendees decided to take on the opportunity to make some money by selling goods like food and clothing. Even full-fledged hippies can’t deny a chance of making a very nice profit. But what happened when merchants took things too far?
A food stand decided to raise the price of its burgers from $0.25 to $1, and the anti-capitalist festival-goers went crazy! The situation escalated into a riot-like scenario, with the food stand being burned by the anti-market, free-love-loving hippies. They believed that such a commercial tactic was against the festival’s general spirit. But isn’t burning food stands also against the morals of peace and love?
