Bethel was the place to be during that weekend in 1969. The best musicians in the US were there, and peace and love could be found in every tent and in the smiles of every attending teenager. However, some of the major counter-culture stars at that time were unable to make it to Woodstock.
John Lennon was denied a visa and got stuck in neighboring Canada. Bob Dylan was taking care of his sick son, and The Jeff Beck Group, a band that was part of the line-up, never visited the site. They split the night before the festival, and we can only guess how bad they must feel about it now.
