When you have nearly half a million teenagers cramped in the same area together, nurses are definitely in need! With that in mind, about 45 doctors and volunteers provided free medical assistance to the many youngsters startled by dehydration, fatigue, and drug abuse.
While the military help was at first seen as detrimental—the Vietnam War was happening at that time—it soon became clear to everybody that, in this case, the government’s support was vital. These men and women were responsible for keeping all the peace and loving under control and helped prevent any potential disasters.
