Working the field

We wouldn’t have such an incredible record of Woodstock if professional photographers weren’t at the event as well as festival-goers. We imagine it must have been hard work to stay ready for photo opportunities for the full weekend, especially with such a party going on!

The event was notable for so many reasons that the press couldn’t stay away; Woodstock drew an unexpectedly massive crowd and internationally renowned acts! The gathering was truly the embodiment of the cultural movement taking place, and we are fortunate that so many pictures have survived, giving us a real insight into a different time.
