Not Everyone’s Favorite Claymate
Caught on Google Street View, Gumby, the beloved green clay cartoon character, is having a less-than-pleasant encounter with two unreceptive kids on the street. While the actions of the boy in blue remain a mystery, the one in black is captured hurling something dark at Gumby.
Without his trusty sidekick, Pokey, to back him up, Gumby seems to be facing a tough crowd. Created by Art Clokey in the early 1950s, the cartoon character has charmed generations but clearly hasn’t won over everyone. This street scene is a humorous reminder that even iconic characters can have their detractors, and not everyone’s childhood favorites are universally adored.
