Cassandra Peterson, 71 – Elvira from Elvira’s Movie Macabre
Cassandra Peterson, frequently referred to by her stage name Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, rose to fame for her wickedly sultry, B-Movie-horror-style persona. She has been a fixture in popular culture since the early 1980s, and one of her most iconic projects was the “Elvira’s Movie Macabre” television series from 1981 to 1986.
The role of Elvira thrust her into stardom, landing her numerous magazine covers, TV appearances with Johnny Carson and David Letterman, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009. She also released her album, “Welcome to the House of Mystery,” in 1989. Throughout her career, Peterson has become known as the Queen of Halloween.
