Eileen Derbyshire – Age 91

With an aspiration of becoming an actress, Eileen Derbyshire began her initial journey as a drama teacher and eventually became proficient in her craft after working in repertory theatre. So, giving many years to the stage finally paid off when she was cast as Emily Bishop in ‘Coronation Street’ in 1961, and the rest is history.

Derbyshire worked for 55 years in the show from 1961-2016, and after giving a small cameo appearance in 2019, the actress chose to retire from showbiz. A recipient of ‘MBE’ membership, this legend is a true example of how dedication looks, and young actors must draw inspiration from her!
