When Amy packed up and left, poor Tammy felt like a castaway on a deserted island. She struggled to breathe and cope with life post-pandemic, and the absence of her loved ones made her feel even more stranded. It’s a tough reality, but unfortunately, feeling abandoned by friends and family isn’t uncommon.
Studies have shown that the pain of social rejection activates the same parts of the brain as physical pain, which shows how much we rely on human connection. It became increasingly hard to cope as Amy had to concentrate on her young child instead of her elder sister.
