The Security Team At Woodstock was called Please Force
Though the Woodstock carnival was announced as “a weekend of music and peace,” members of the organizing department realized that many unruly moments might occur, which would demand their immediate attention or disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. Planting only uniformed officers was not sufficient for such a situation!
Consequently, they decided to have troops of off-duty guards among the crowd and a supervising team from Hog Farm (an established hippie commune of California). To protect the festival’s vibes, its lead activist Wavy Gravy planned to tame waywards by hurling custard pies and soda water instead of conventional violent methods – thoughtful and impactful!
