Tipping the Scales—or Boat
A small speed boat cuts through the water, but something seems amiss. Three men, all gathered at the boat’s back end, are engaged in a precarious balancing act. Two of them, seated right above the engine on a small chair, shift their weight, causing the boat to tilt perilously, looking as though it’s about to flip upside down.
This situation highlights an essential boating principle: proper weight distribution. According to the U.S. boating safety guidelines, uneven weight distribution can cause a boat to become unstable and even capsize, particularly in smaller vessels. We hope they made it out safely.
