Flotation-Friendly Fumble
In an unexpected moment caught on camera, a person is seen falling from a boat into the water. His face is a mix of surprise and panic as he screams, his arms flailing. Thankfully, he’s wearing a life jacket, and a few inflatable floaters bob nearby, ready to offer additional support.
This snapshot might be amusing, but it highlights a critical aspect of boating safety. Wearing a life jacket, even when not intending to swim, can be a lifesaver. As per the U.S. Coast Guard’s records, 86% of individuals who drowned in recreational boating incidents had not been utilizing a life jacket at the time of the accidents.
