Pete Postlethwaite – 64 – Pancreatic Cancer
Pete Postlethwaite, whose stern features helped him convey intensity in movies like Amistad and The Usual Suspects, almost became a Catholic priest. However, he left the seminary for an acting career, first appearing on television in his native England. Although Steven Spielberg once called him the “world’s best actor,” Postlethwaite left behind an inheritance of just $280K for his family when he died of pancreatic cancer at age 64. Despite what many of his fans may think because he used to take upon roles of Irish protagonists, Pete was not of Irish descent!
