Eileen Derbyshire, Age 89 – Coronation Street

She’s only ever played one character, but it’s not like Eileen Derbyshire ever needed to do more in order for her to reach stardom. In 1961, Derbyshire made her first appearance on Coronation Street. She was only 30 years old back then. Who’d have thought that playing Emily Bishop would still be keeping her busy in her 80s?

Derbyshire left the cast in 2016, after having played in over 2,400 episodes overall! In 2019 she returned to the studio for a brief cameo. She’s now 89 years old. Even Queen Elisabeth II herself must enjoy her acting, as in 2010, she added her to her Birthday Honours List.
