Johnelle Hunt and Johnnie Bryan, her late husband, joined the transportation business in 1969 by co-founding J.B. Hunt Transport. At that time, they only have five trucks and seven trailers and Hunt quickly learned bookkeeping to keep the business afloat. Before she went into retirement in 2008, she held several positions in the company, including serving as a credit manager and corporate secretary. However, she’s still the majority shareholder with a 17% stake in the business. Hunt donated six acres of land towards the construction of an Arkansas-based outdoor amphitheater in 2014.
