Faulkner is the Epic Systems CEO, a healthcare software company she founded in 1979 as Human Services Computing. The company handles the medical records of an estimated 200 million individuals. Apple showed interest in acquiring the company from Faulkner but she made it clear that she wasn’t interested in selling her business. Faulkner has also said that she won’t list the company in the stock market, and she takes pride in the fact that it’s a home-grown entity. Alongside her family, she has ownership of 43% of the company.
