Adapting to Challenges
The Perry House encountered unforeseen challenges as a business venture. Despite its noble intent and initial success in aiding individuals with substance use disorders, financial realities forced Matthew to reassess the project’s sustainability. Between 2013 and 2015, the Malibu mansion, the heart of The Perry House, became financially untenable, leading to its sale for $10.5 million.
This setback, however, did not dampen his commitment to the cause. Recognizing the need for a more viable long-term strategy, he expressed intentions in 2015 to relocate the project to a smaller facility. His determination to “keep the business going” reflects his adaptability and unwavering dedication to supporting those in recovery.
