Conditions Were Dreadful
Even in the poorest of conditions, Woodstock attendees like the ones shown in the picture above were happy to be celebrating peace and love. But the festival was not ready to receive a crowd of nearly half a million, and the already scarce sanitary resources were made worse by the almost-incessant rain.
Woodstock stories mention Lisa Law, a woman who reportedly stayed up all night making sandwiches to feed the hungry—and normally very high—festival-goers. The festival staff also installed four containers with nearly 10K gallons of drinking water to avoid dehydration and improve the dreadful conditions.
