William McKinley – Price Undisclosed, Canton, Ohio
Another former President who spent some time living with his in-laws was William McKinley. Today, this house belongs to the National First Ladies Museum. It has an important tidbit of history: in 1880, three Presidents stayed in the house after a meeting. Specifically, William McKinley, one of the presidential candidates at the time, James Garfield, and President Rutherford B. Hayes. McKinley died during his time as President. He was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz in 1901, leaving wife Ida as a survivor. Ida went back to the home in Canton where she suffered a deep depression until her death, five years later.
