Karen Carpenter – 32 – Congestive Heart Failure
You probably grew up listening to songs like Close to You and I Need to Be in Love of Karen Carpenter. Karen was the other half of the duo The Carpenters together with her brother Richard. Karen was a singer and a great drummer. Over the years, her voice has been praised by people and fellow musicians. However, unknown to many, she was suffering from an eating disorder, little known at her time, from the mid-’70s until her death in 1983. Karen died of heart failure at 32, which resulted from her years of starving herself.
