“Sold-Out” Was More Of A Figure Of Speech…
Saying that Woodstock was sold out is probably not the most accurate representation of what happened. Over 400K people gathered on a 600-acre farm in what proved to be an unexpected level of attendance. The logistical issues were huge, and this resulted in an unprecedented line of car traffic.
The 3.9K locals were certainly baffled as their small town was “invaded” by thousands of cars that formed a traffic jam on the highway 17B, which measured more than 20 miles! Luckily, this is Woodstock we’re talking about. And while peace and love is something we normally don’t associate with traffic jams, things went quite smoothly despite the onslaught of attendees.
